Simultaneous interpreting
The simultaneous interpreter listens to and interprets in “real time” – with only a few seconds delay. Two to three professionals take turns every 30 minutes from a booth or using a mobile interpretation kit (bidule).
Simultaneous interpreting from a booth is suitable for: international conferences, multilingual seminars, annual conventions, general assemblies, works councils, boards of directors, training courses with a big attendance, presentations, scientific or medical symposiums, radio or television broadcasts, press conferences. Simultaneous interpreting using a mobile interpretation kit is suitable for: sightseeing tours, business trips, meetings on industrial or agricultural sites, small and short meetings. (Non-exhaustive list)
Soundproof booth
The interpreter sits in a soundproof booth and receives the sound through headphones or a headset. He or she interprets the speech into the target language using a console or headset with built-in microphone.

Bidule
Bidule refers to a mobile interpretation kit of a microphone and earpieces, commonly used for guided tours. The interpreter has the microphone and the participants the earpieces.

+ Cheaper
+ Good troubleshooting solution
And the disadvantages?
– Discomfort for participants who understand the source language – the interpreter is in the same room as the audience and speaks at the same time as the main speaker
– Reduced listening comfort for interpreters and participants
– Must have a soundproofed environment
Equipment for the audience
Using soundproof booths or mobile interpretation kits, participants will be provided with receivers and headphones to listen to the real time translation into the language(s) of their choice.
In addition, microphones should be provided for the speakers. The choice is yours: wired or wireless hand-held microphone, lapel microphone, headset microphone or tabletop microphone.
